FAQ

  • Gel Polish/Artificial Nail Removal

If you currently have gel polish on your nails, make sure you are booked for a gel removal along with your service as the removal process can take up to 20 minutes.

  • Arrival

We recommend arriving 5-10 minutes prior to your appointment to give you plenty of time to fill out our first-time client intake form, settle in, or find the perfect polish.

  • Booking

We require a credit card to book all appointments. You will not be charged until after your service.

  • Cancellation Policy

We understand things come up and you may not be able to make your appointment. We ask for 12 hours notice for all cancellations. If you cancel after the 12 hours, you will be charged 50% of your service. No call/no shows will be charged for full service. Thank you for your understanding.

  • Late Arrival

We will accommodate you to the best of our abilities, however, we may have to shorten the service in order to keep the next client's service at their scheduled time. Original service cost still applies.

  • Walk-Ins Welcome, but Not Guaranteed

We would love to be able to accommodate everyone, but we are not able to guarantee that you will be seen right when you walk in. We provide phone and online booking for your convenience.

  • We offer two ways to relax with our Hand and Foot treatments:

    • Luxurious soaking treatment of either an all-natural dead sea salt soak or coconut milk bath to hydrate the skin and calm the mind.

    • Blissful waterless treatment includes a relaxing massage with our Signature Botanical Spray and a warm towel wrap infused with essential oils to ease the mind, body and soul.

  • Why waterless?

You are given the option of choosing between a traditional soaking of the hands/feet, or our blissful waterless treatment. The choice is up to you, but rest assured that no matter what method you choose, we make both options just as sanitary and luxurious, therefore without compromising quality and experience. If you have never heard of a waterless treatment, here are some reasons to consider the sans-soak service on your next visit:

    • It’s an excellent service for clients with certain medical conditions (like diabetes) where foot soaking isn’t recommended.

    • And of course, why not help the environment by saving water. (A nail salon uses approximately 15 gallons of water for every manicure and pedicure combined)

  • What is a Zen Kit?

Elevate your nail game and find your zen at the same time!

We’ve teamed up with the Mindfulness App to elevate your nail service. A pair of headphones and Ipod are available if you wish to unwind and experience an audio guided meditation session with your service.

A cup of premium MIYU wellness tea is offered to sooth and hydrate along with any service.

  • How do you clean your tools/implements?

Our health is the most precious thing to us. You can rest assured that we adhere to the highest standard of sanitation practices.

All stainless steel tools undergo a 2-step cleaning process. Implements are first soaked and brushed in a disinfectant, dried and sealed in sterilization pouches and finally sterilized in a hospital-grade autoclave. We use a high performance Ritter M9 Autoclave and is one of the industry’s best autoclaves used for sterilizing equipment and used in hospitals. This is the only process guaranteed to kill spores. The standard immersion disinfection used at discount nail shops is not sufficient to completely eradicate all microbial life.

It is not common for nail salons to use an autoclave because it is not required by the government and it is much more expensive than the basic requirements. Furthermore, each month we are responsible for submitting spore tests to maintain quality standards (same standards as tattoo parlours). At Drift, we believe this should be a standard and provide the absolute best for our valued clientele. Come early before your appointment to tour our Sterilization Room. We are fully transparent and very proud of our rigorous hygienic standards and protocols.

  • What is sugaring?

Sugaring is an ancient form of hair removal that has been in practice since 1900 BC. It uses a paste made of sugar, lemons and water to gently lift the hair into the paste and remove it by flicking it off the skin in the direction of hair growth.

  • How is sugaring different than other forms of hair removal?

The sugar paste is applied and molded against the skin pulling up the hairs and then flicking the sugar and the hair off. It's less painful than waxing, is a great exfoliator without the burns and ingrown hairs of waxing and shaving. It also leads to permanent reduction of hair growth or "refinement". After a few sessions, you will notice your hair become finer and or sparser in density.

  • How long should my hair be?

Hair can be extracted at a shorter length than waxing. Best results happen with hair at least 1/8" in length, but can be removed starting at 1/16th". (Basically, stop shaving 7-10 days prior. Less pain is experienced when hair is longer, so try your best to grow it out a bit.)

  • Can I be sugared if on Accutane or Retin-A?

These both exfoliate and/or thin the skin. Accutane must be completely stopped for six months prior to sugaring, and Retin-A is on a individual basis and requires a patch test. I take your health very seriously, and require your full disclosure in order to prevent adverse skin reactions.

  • Is there anytime I should not get Sugared?

As stated above, sugaring is not recommended while using Accutane or Retin-A products. You may also feel more tenderness during your menstrual cycle and/or the week before.

  • Can I get sugared while I'm pregnant?

Yes, it's totally safe at that time, as sugar is a much more body safe product than petroleum based waxes.

  • Will there be any allergic reactions/ bumps/hives after sugaring?

Some people will get a histamine reaction similar to waxing. Usually it's less, and your skin isn't damaged. It's the body's reaction to having the hair totally removed. If you are concerned or have had this reaction in the past, taking an anti-histamine may alleviate this reaction.

  • How long does sugaring last?

Hair has 3 growth cycles. If desired hair growth length is present, chances are during your first sugaring session, the first, second, and part of the third hair growth cycles may be removed. After getting sugared around 2-3 times all three hair growth cycles should start coming out at the same time. If after the first appointment, you find stubble, it's usually the 3rd cycle poking out. The first sugaring should last 2-3 weeks. As you continue to get sugared, you will find that you can last 3-6 weeks between appointments, or longer.

  • What are some considerations post-waxing treatment?

To ensure maximum comfort and benefit after the treatment, it is important to follow the steps below at home:

    • Avoid applying heat to the waxed area for 12 to 24 hours. This includes hot baths, sauna, and steam.

    • Use an anti-acne lotion for face, back and chest following the treatment and twice a day until breakouts are gone. Use only an anti-acne product recommended by your skin care professional.

    • Avoid suntanning for 12 to 24 hours. This includes any strong ultraviolet (UV) light exposure or tanning bed treatments.

    • Avoid applying highly fragranced products to the waxed area. This includes, perfume, scented body lotions, anti-perspirants, cosmetics, or feminine hygiene sprays. Only use professional products, recommended to you by the skin care therapist who performed the waxing service.

    • Avoid using harsh abrasive or exfoliates in the waxed area. However if you are prone to in-grown hairs, the day after your waxing treatment, exfoliate newly waxed area with a loofah to avoid future problems.

    • Avoid applying high SPF sunblock to the waxed area for 12-24 hours after the waxing service. Sunscreen chemicals can be irritating to the newly waxed skin. This includes self-tanning products and tan accelerators.

    • Any pinking of the skin should disappear within 6 to 8 hours after the waxing treatment. Slight pinking is normal, and indicates that the hair was removed from the root, rather than superficially broken off, as in shaving. This is the reason that professional waxing lasts so much longer.

For best results, repeat your professional waxing every 4 to 6 weeks depending on the area and your individual hair growth rate.

If you have any questions about your waxing service or after care at home, please do not hesitate to call your esthetician.
